Dark Vengence Lord Kranon WIP

Hi,

I wanted to show you something I was working lately. I'm painting this miniature as a commission and the goal was to paint him very similar to my CSM Aspiring Champion. I experimented a little on his armor but I think now it looks more like silver NMM than black but it’s a cool effect I think. I'm very happy with the scale 75 blood and fire set because with those you can paint very saturated red colors. I will make the cape a little dirty and worn because it’s not suiting for a Chaos Space Marine to have such a nice cape :P. This miniature has much detail and is very challenging but I hope you like ho thing are shaping.

After seeing the photos I think I will correct some parts especially those orgs on his sword. I like making WIP photos so I can look at the miniature from time to time and figure out what to change.

Best regards,
REDAV

  1. Stunning work on the red and the armour. What colours did you use on the cloak? It looks very natural.

    1. Hi,
Sorry for the late response. For the red cape I have used a Blood and Fire paint set from Scale 75 (http://www.scale75.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=55_59&product_id=140). But basically you can achieve it with some GW paints like Blood Red and shading with gore red and some mixes of regal blue/gore red. The highlights ware done using some mixes of blood red/belched bone and white. The most important thing at the start is painting with blood red over a white or grey primer because then the red will be very saturated like this one. I hope this will help.

  2. I picked up some scale paint sets a couple days ago, really impressed with the quality of them so far. Thanks for mentioning them I doubt I would have found out about them otherwise! Are you using scale paints for the steel and gold as well? You get a really impressive finish. Ever considered doing a teaching dvd? :)

    1. Hi,
I haven’t seen you comment earlier so I'm sorry for the late response. I'm happy you like the Scale 75 paints because they are really good in my opinion. As for the steel and gold sets I'm using the NMM ones right now but I bought their metallics recently so I will try them out. Gimiak from TBB bought the gold metallic set and he is really happy that he has done it because in his opinion they are very good.
