Baals finally finished...

Hi there. This weekend I've finally finished my three Baal Predators - Veni, Vidi, Vici. Additionally I've to paint three crew members, but those guys have to wait until I paint my assault marines (three combat squads). You can see more views of Baal Predators clicking here: CMON.




I've also find few moments to clean and undercoat my new project. Yes, it will be the dwarf. I tking that this will be a cool lesson. I didn't paint anything so small. ;) For the first time I will put my mini on wooden base (you can purchase similar from this shop: mrocznyraj.pl). I think it will be a very nice project to work with.

Baals in progress III

Hi there. I've been busy painting my tanks this week and looking at my progress I'm pretty sure that I will finish those tanks this friday. Yes, finally I'll finish them. Today I have to clean the tracks and work with stains. Additionally I have to paint three crew members but I will do this after my small project listed below...




... ahh yes. As a small spin off project I will paint this little guy next week. I don't want to play dwarfs, but I do have a desire to paint something totally different and totally... small. Compering to Bloody AngeLs tanks. ;)

painting continues

Hi. This week is looking very nice. From the beginning I was able to paint, due to the temepature isn't hot as it was in last weeks. Below you can see current status of one of the Baals.

Progress so far - Baals

Hi,

I know that some of you will badamn me for this words, but I will wrote it anyway. Thanks to the raining weekend I was able to put a little progress in my tank painting section and below you can view my current status. The other two tanks are 'one step behind' but there is a high chance that I will finish them this week. We will see, it's all depends on the weather.

Baals in progress II

I did small progress with my Baals. I finally manage to rip off all of the masquing fluid from all parts of my tanks and started to paint 'highlights' on the bottom of chipped paint. Below you will find few pics showing you how to achieve this effect. If you're working with non black base you schould also consider to paint dark thinly line on the upper sections



I'm hoping to find enought time in upcoming weekend to push my tanks further.



I'm also consider to change color scheme on sponsons from black to 'rusty' on all three Baals. It might look nice. I'll paint one and check how does it look in 'real' life. Here's an example.

Painting Baals with airbrush, next step of weathering

Yesterday it was a nice day for painting. Especially for me, I don't know what think about it my naighbors. I was using my airbrush till 23:30. Hope they didn't hear. ;)
And yes, I have finally paint all the red parts. As you see on pic below I'm painting my tanks in spares. Usually people glue tank spares together and then paint the whole model. Before I started to paint I was thinking about it but in the end I decided that 'my way' will be ok. I'll be able to paint all the elementes without any problems.




Working on weathering...
Ok, now I'm able to continue my small weathering tutorial. When paint on all of the elements dry I've started to put off Masquing Fluid, which was appllied after priming with Chaos Black spray.



After taking off (with Blu Tack or similar putty) fluid elements, elements should look like shown on pic below.

I will describe next step probably tomorrow just after I take off all masquing fluid from all of the elements and this could take few minutes. Some may say that black 'metal' looks unnatural, but... it's from 41 Millenium. Personally I don't like the silver base for weathering.

Rusty gold tutorial

Hi.
Almost one year ago I've started to collect my SM army. I've an idea to have drop pods instead of the Rhinos. The most important thing was that I wanted to have a 'real' looking pods, which wasn't an easy thing because of the lack of drop pods in real life. There was only one pod in SM codex (White Scars), which looked quite nice, but my idea was to push weathering and battle damage to the next level. With the brush and paints I've started to develop my pods. In this tutorial I'll only write about 'rusty gold' because many people ask me how have I done it.





I've used following paints and brushes:
Chaos Black Spray
Scorched Brown
Shining Gold
Mithril Silver
Devlan Mud Wash
Badab Black Wash

Citadel Large Brush
Citadel Drybrush Medium

All products came from Games Workshop range. Of course you could paint it with Vallejo etc. It's up to you. :)

In one of the GW books there was introduction to the stipping method and looking at my effect I must admit that it's the same method. I've prepared this tutorial while painting my Razorbacks, but the method could be adapted to any model. Especially for tanks and pods. ;)

After the basecoating with Chaos Black spray I've mix Shining Gold and Scorched Brown 1:1 and cover the whole area. Large Brush was used. Next step is to give two coats of Devlan Mud Wash on the entire area. On the bottom of the elements and in all recesses you can also put some Badab Black wash.



When all of the washes dry we can go further with our painting. Now the entire process will go very fast. Take a little bit of Shining Gold paint on Medium Drybrush brush and leave almost all of the paint on the paper. Instead you can just drybrush the paint on the paper. Same method.



When you got almost dry brush start to stipple paint on the element. Leave some space of the clear area to achieve good looking finished effect.



Next step is mix Shining Gold with Mithril Silver 3:1 and follow the same steps written before. One important difference is to begin painting with this mix at the half of the painted element and follow in the upper section.



If you like the effect you can stop here, but if you would like to give more contrast you can stipple pure Mithril Silver.



And that's it.



Stains...

In some of the cases it's good to add stains. In real life it looks pretty cool on the model. ;) Look for recesses and bolts and vertically paint stains. Below you will find effect of my work while I was painting Land Raider Crusader /Reedemer.



To achieve this effect I've used following washes (in order of painting). All from the Games Workshop range.
Gryphonne Sepia
Ogryn Flesh
Devlan Mud
Badab Black

Hi. I've finnaly finished for my army two last Razorbacks / Rhinos. You can see more views of the here: CMON. It took me 26 hours to paint both of them. Red was applied with an airbrush.




Army so far... What's next / What's left? Hm... 1 x Landraider Crusader - Death Company dedicated, 3 x Baal Predators, 15 x Death Company, 15 x Assault Marines, 1 x Sternguard Veteran... A lot of! I think I will start with Death Company but first I have to paint something totally different.
