Gimiak's SRG log - day 8: Highlighting reds, weathering
6 hours of painting has quickly pass away. I'm in a middle of weathering phase. Model have started to look more realistic, but there is a lot of work for me to finish this 'little' guy. Till Friday I'll try to paint as much as I can - hopefully finishing weathering. Right now you don't see any 'rusty gold' on it, I'll work on that this weekend. I wanted to try something new with it, but first I've to try it in a Photoshop. It's much more easier to correct mistakes. ;)
Beside painting this weekend I've cleaned and assembled together a Death Company Dreadnought, which I'll paint in a near future together with a regular Dreadnought with missile launcher and plasma cannon. But first there will be my last assault squad. Now I've to look at my bits box for a missile launchers for my devastator squad...
Weathering
I've painted so called 'stains' with a watered down chaos black and scorched brown mix with slight brush strokes (Citadel Largu Brush). After that I add fortress grey paint to this mix and paint with the same method strokes on the whole model. The last coat was pure watered down fortress grey.
After taking off masking tape I've emphasized the bottom edge with a bleached bone mixed with a very small drop of blood red paint. So far, so good.

Gimiak's SRG log - day 6: Priming
Till today I didn't have time to put new pics from weekends painting sessions online. Now I will change it. On Friday night I was finishing my second assault squad. I will put picture of the entire squad in a couple of days.
I choosen to make hurricane pattern bolters / hatches on magnets. I cut a plasticard pole and put two 5 mm x 5 mm inside and glue it inside of Stormraven Gunship body. Maybe it doesn't look super but it was an easy way to me to have that kind of an option. Hurricane pattern bolters are IMHO a little bit overproced but I wanted to do it anyway. When the glue dries I wash up the whole model with water and soap. After couple of hours when the water dried I've primed the whole model with Chaos Black spray.
The next step was applying weathering 'rust' – first coat: Dark Flesh paint, second coat: Vermin Brown paint, third coat Blazing Orange. Next I've applied a masking fluid (Maskol) with sponge.
When the Maskol dried I've started with applying the base color (Scab Red) with an airbrush. The last coat airbrushed on top was Blood Red.
So far that's all what I've done. Next step will be shading, highlighting and weathering, which I will do in this weekend.

Michal Gmitrasiuk: Hobby Hero; Blood Angels
On Saturday I've given you a link to GW website to my army on their webpage. Around two weeks ago, after officially anouced Blood Angels second wave our brother Czys send me following text from GW website:
We plan to show a lot more of the Blood Angels over the next couple of weeks, plus plenty more besides! If you have a Blood Angels army then feel free to send us an email with a few pictures and some text about how you made them.I've made few pics and send them with no hope for publication. After two days
picture of one of my tanks have been published. More on that, they ask me to make a better pictures, which could be shown a day before officiall Blood Angels second wave release. Additionally I've written text which include my short story with warhammer 40k, painting tips and army roosters. Till friday I didn't belive that they will actually publish it. Friday suprise me a lot, especially with thi "Global Hobby Hero" title. In my humble opinion I'm not worthy to carry this title, there are a lot o really, really good painters (Raffa from Massive Voodoo for example, also a Blood Angels enthusiast).
Unofrtunately GW didn't publish all of images which I've sended to them, especially Land Raider Crusader is an (IMHO) epic tank.
In a near future I will continue with my Stormraven Gunship log and additionally I'll publish the rest of the pictures. Below you can view print screens from Fridays GW post.
Regards,
Michal "Gimiak" Gmitrasiuk ;)
