Space Wolves Wolf Guard Terminator step by step - part six

Hello world,

Let's continue with my step by step guide. Today I'll show you how I've painted stones and crystals. I've decided to limit my color palete and all rocky the elements were painted with in the same painting sheme. I began with few watered down coats of Charadone Granite foundation paint.

Next I've added small amount of Bleached Bone paint and started to work with all top elements of each stones. I follow this method till pure Bleached Bone mixed with Skull White painted on the top edges.

I should paint the small skull on chain in other color, which is my remark after painting the whole model, but in that time this element look fine to me.

Next part was the two crystals. When I was planning how do I wanted to paint this mini I've few options cosidering crystals. I was considering painting it with red or blue. The second option was OSL. The last part I'll show you on the bottom and it was only a prototype made with photoshop.
In the end I've choosen tha this little fella should have a red crystals. I begun my painting with Scab Red paint.

Then I've added Blood Red. Next I've added Blazing Orange to Blood Red and paint thin lines on the edges of the crystals.

Last thing which I've made was painting a small dot in centre of each crystal of pure Bleached Bone.

I could use different scheme - Scab Red to Skull White - but I wanted to try something 'new'.

In the end of Today's post, here's the glowing crystals version of my Wolf Guard Terminator.

Tomorrow I'll show you how have I painted head, so stay tuned. In the mean time I'm painting my Stormraven Gunship and Assault Squad, so expect somme pictures of them around Friday.

Space Wolves Wolf Guard Terminator step by step - part five

Hello,

Well, today as mention before I will show you how have I painted gold and silver elements. I've started with base of Shining Gold. Usually I use mix of Shining Gold and Scorcheb Brown 1:1 mix or Tin Bitz, but this time I wanted to try pure Shining Gold.

Then I've applied Devlan Mud wash in the recesses of all gold elements.

Last coat was pure Mithril Silver applied on top of all convex elements.

Now it's time to paint silver. As usuall I've started with coat of Boltgun Metal.

Then I've applied Badab Black wash on all silver surfaces.

Pipes, or whatever you call it, I've put additionally Devlan Mud wash.

Last coat was made with, as mention before, Mithril Silver paint.

Yep, that's all for today. Pretty easy, hugh? Tomorrow I'll show you how have I painted all the rocky parts (talismans, crux terminator etc).

Ps: To my head came an idea, to make similar while painting my Death Company and a regular Blood Angels Dreadnoughts. I could easy divide my work among black and red parts. They are on my list for March / April.

Hi folks,

Hope you liked my previous posts. Today is the forth article about painting a Space Wolvie. This time I'll show you how I paint fur and wolf skin. I've choosen darker color scheme for fur, bleached skin (inner section of the fur) was painted in lighter tones.

I've started with basecoating the whole area with Scorched Brown.

Next with Dark Flesh paint I've painted all the convex area.

Next-to-last coat on the fur was Vermin Brown, only the top convex elements vere painted.

As for the bleached skin... On the beginning I didn't have bloody idea how to paint it. I only knew that this element should be lighter. I've started with Tallarn Flexh foundation paint.As a whole, this model is a big experiment for me and my painting skills.

When first coat dried, I've applied watered down Dark Flesh paint in the recesses.

Next, I've watered down Leviatan Purple wash and also apply it on recesses in skin section.

When watered dawn leviatan purple wash dried, I've started with highlightning the whole skin area. I've mixed Tallarn Flesh with Fortress Grey and apply this mix on all conveses.

In the meantime I've added more Fortress Grey and a little bit Bleached Bone to the previusly created mix  and apply this mix in the upper sections on all convexes. The last coat was pure watered down Bleached Bone paint in the upper sections of the skin convexes.

Hopefully my instruction were clear for you and you will be able to recreate my method on your models. If you will have some questiuons, write them in the comment section. I'll try to answer ASAP. In my next post I'll show you how have I painted all of the metal (silver and gold) sections. Till the end of this tutorial there will be four sections: painting all the crux terminator insygnia, painting head, shading armour and preparation and painting base.

Space Wolves Wolf Guard Terminator step by step - part three

Hi,

It's time for third part of our tutorial. Today I will show you how I work on yellow parts and lightning claw. Reffering to Games Workshop's painting guide I started to paint yellow parts (Storm Bolter and shoulder pad) with Bronzed Flash.

After several coats I put aside yellow and start working with lightning claw. Looking at GW tutorials in the best advertisement called White Dwarf you may see that they are paint all the power weapons for marines with blue. It looks cool, but looking at my model I decided to try different color. To my head came an idea to paint it with red. As a basis I've mixed Blood Red with Chaos Black around 2:1.

Then I've add another Blood Red drop with more water I've started to make simple stroke in two directions (45 degree and 135 degree) on all from four claws with it.
Pure watered dawn Blood Red was then applied. Next comes mix Blood Red with Skull White. The next-to-last coat was pure white on the bottom of the claws. Very last coat was watered down Blood Red paint applied on the whole area.

The I came back to yellow. The upper sections were glazed with watered down Golden Yellow. Then I make few coats of watered down Sunburst Yellow and paint edges with Skull White.

Using Blue Tac I've ripped off masking fluid and emphasized the bottom edges with white.

I've to apply a little bit Blazing Orange paint on few yellow parts in a near future. With this small accent I'll finish my tutorial's third part. On upcoming fourth part you could expect steps which I'll make while painting wolf's fur. I've to think about the base, right now I don't have bloody idea how to prepare it. In my whole painting time frame I didn't have ever prepared snow covered base. Maybe this will be my milestone.
